ABOUT US
Nova is dedicated to the complete development of every athlete in our program. We deliver advanced technique instruction and sophisticated system concepts built to elevate performance and prepare athletes for success at the next level — personally and competitively.
“Your attitude, energy, and enthusiasm are ALWAYS your decision.”
THE NOVA WAY
Nova Volleyball operates on a single standard: the Nova Way. Developed and led by Kim Roleder and Rob Machan, our training system is structured, proven, and built on the techniques used by elite athletes worldwide. We train with purpose, compete with intensity, and work to develop every athlete on and off the court.
Every player in our program follows a unified curriculum — from passing and aggressive-efficient attacking to advanced jump serving. We train athletes for measurable development at every stage. Our systematic approach closes the gap between youth and high school competition, so Nova athletes arrive prepared. We care deeply about winning, but we care more about your child's growth. Our goal is to send every Nova athlete into high school not just ready to compete, but ready to thrive.
FOUR LAWS OF PLAY
Every practice, every point, every match — it all comes back to the basics. The Four Laws of Play are the foundation of Nova volleyball, giving our athletes a clear, simple framework to build their game on. No matter your skill level, these four principles are the building blocks of everything we teach.
#1: Serve tough (and in!)
#2: Pass and dig on our side of the net
#3: Set where someone can jump and hit it (landing on two feet!)
#4: Hit it in
OUR STORY
Nova Volleyball Club was founded by Coach Machan in Long Beach, California in 1996. What followed was a decorated run on the national stage — 3 USAV Junior National Open Championships, 5 Silver Medals, 2 Bronze Medals, and 27 top-3 finishes in USAV National Qualifiers. That spirit of competing at the highest level and commitment to growth on and off the court, is what drives everything we do at Nova.
Today, that same standard drives everything we do in Connecticut. Our coaches are experienced, knowledgeable, and deeply committed to developing athletes in a fun, safe, and structured environment — whether your athlete is just learning the game, training to make a high school team, or pursuing a college roster spot.
